Driver GPS Settings

Bustle relies on mobile device GPS settings in order to receive current location data. The following permissions are relevant and should be considered on a user by user basis:

  • Don't Allow (Deny)

    • This will deny all GPS tracking on the driver phone. The Bustle platform will not receive any GPS updates, which will then not allow you to track the location of consignments.

  • Allow only while using the App

    • This will only send GPS tracking information to Bustle when the driver has the app open, with the phone unlocked and on. If the driver sends the app to the background by opening another app or going to the device homescreen (menu), then the app will no longer send GPS info to the Bustle platform.

  • Allow all the time (In Background)

    • This setting will broadcast the GPS coordinates (location) of the phone to Bustle regardless of whether the app is running in the background or not.

To Change the GPS Setting to "Allow all the time":

  1. Ensure the driver has closed the Bustle app from running on their phone. If unsure, then the driver can do a restart of their device.

  2. Ask the driver to start the Bustle app and login.

  3. Upon login, the app will check the GPS setting. If it is not set to 'Allow all the time', then the above popup will display. (If this popup does not appear, go to the device settings, the apps, find the Bustle app and manually change the GPS Permission.)

  4. Click on 'Allow all the time'

  5. The phone will then show a Location Permissions page. Click on "Allow all the time", or the desired Location Permission that the driver will allow.

  6. Bustle Admin users can then check the driver has set their GPS setting on the Organisation --> User Management page by clicking on the relevant Driver. Example below:

User has their GPS Permission set to: "Don't Allow"

User has now set their GPS Permission to: "Allow all the time"

Driver's should also use the highest setting available for GPS accuracy and precision. such as Android's "Use precise location". This setting will be shown on step 5 of the above steps.
